Founded in 2000, Penderyn Distillery was launched to give new life to distilling in Wales for the first time in over 100 years. Set in the beautiful surroundings of the Brecon Beacons National Park – a perfect water source for the Distillery – the first Penderyn Single Malt Whisky was released in 2004. 

Since that time the business has seen a full range of single malt whiskies, gins and other spirits developed. With its unique stills producing spirit at an industry high of 92%, using the finest casks from around the world, inspired by the whisky expert, Dr Jim Swann and Penderyn’s expert distillers (our distilling team are all women), Penderyn Whisky has quickly gained a worldwide reputation winning over 50 Gold Medals en route

Now operating from three distilleries ( Penderyn, Llandudno and Swansea Copperworks ), Penderyn led the establishment of a UK Protected Geographic Indicator for Single Malt Welsh Whisky in 2023. Still an independent business, the brand sits proudly in the top 10 of single malt whiskies in the UK. The Company started exports in 2004 and since then have successfully launched the Brand in over 50 markets around the world.
