Founded in the heart of Yorkshire, Regal Foods is a manufacturer and distributor of a vast range of world food products as well as producers of a large selection of mainstream confectionery – resulting in being a brand for everyone and one that everyone loves.
From humble beginnings, Regal Food Products Group has become a global, multimillion-pound food group.
Regal Foods began its journey in 2001 from humble beginnings in Bradford, West Yorkshire. The business started with just one bakery product – puff pastry fingers and a single delivery van, supplying local convenience stores and catering to the South Asian community.
Driven by quality, tradition, and ambition, Regal quickly expanded its product range and customer base. By 2004, the company had outgrown its initial operations and established Regal House, a dedicated production facility that marked a major step in its evolution. Around this time, Regal products also began appearing in the world food aisles of major UK supermarkets including Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, and Sainsbury’s.
To support the company’s rapid growth, Younis Chaudhry, founder of Regal, was appointed CEO. Today, Regal Foods remains a proudly family-owned business, with several family members actively involved in leadership roles.
Over two decades later, Regal manufactures more than 400 bakery and snacking products, supplying over 3,000 retail and foodservice outlets across the UK, as well as exporting its products to 50 international countries. Its product range includes cakes, biscuits, snacks, and traditional South Asian treats. In 2022, Regal was awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade, recognising its strong global presence, with exports reaching more than 50 countries.
Employing over 350 people across its sites in Bradford and Leeds, Regal is now a significant local employer and a key player in the UK’s food industry. The company has expanded into a group of brands, each with its own specialty:
- Love Handmade Cakes: Produces cakes, traybakes, and muffins for the foodservice sector.
- Just Desserts Yorkshire: Crafts premium gateaux, cheesecakes, and tarts for cafés, farm shops, and restaurants.
- Yorkshire Baking Company: Known for its traditional sponge cakes, stocked by major retailers nationwide.
- Suncrest: Iconic soft drink producer
Both Regal Bakery and Yorkshire Baking Company have been recognised among the UK’s top 20 cake brands.
Despite its global success, Regal remains deeply connected to its Bradford roots. The company actively supports the community through its joint-run Bradford Community Kitchen and various charitable and grassroots initiatives. At Regal, community and tradition continue to shape everything it does.
